It's....been....a....while. Where have I been? What have I been doing? What’s new with December?
Honestly….I’ve just been growing. Spiritually, Mentally, Intellectually, Physically growing. My 2018 has been a journey, but in the most refreshing and positive way.
I’m still at that age where i’m trying to figure who I am, and what I want to do in life. These early 20’s ain’t no joke. It’s been a real struggle, but the struggle is necessary.
But because I’ve been away from my blog for so long, I felt it was right to come back and update you all on myself. I don’t know where to start.
I guess I’ll start with work.
Earlier this year, I finally left my retail job. It was thee best feeling leaving a job that I hated and made me feel restricted. That my first job ever, and I was there for 3 years, so it was definitely time to go. Around May, I applied for a paid internship, at a fashion boutique and honestly, it was the worst internship ever.
There were so many things that just made the whole situation a mess. I could not afford to work there. The location was downtown so along with paying for gas, I had to pay for parking everyday, repeatedly, and parking tickets. It definitely was not what I had expected nor, what I thought I’d signed up for. Objectives and goals that were made for me, as an intern were not met so at the end of my contract I was happy to leave.
On the upside, I was offered an even better internship that I am currently at now. I am the Fashion/Design Intern Blogger for Style Fanatic Stylings. My main role with the company is to bring my expertise and knowledge as a fashion student and write captivating and intriguing post for their readers. So far, it’s been great and exactly what I’ve been looking for. Being that I’m in a place of finding myself, and figuring myself out, I try to look for opportunities that will help me grow. Last semester, my classes allowed me to figure out what I want to do in the fashion industry. I’ve learned that I want to be an entrepreneur and that I want my brand, as a blogger, to be a part of my entrepreneurship. I’ve only been at my position for almost 3 months, and it has allowed me to meet so many influential people, and people that are in my industry, and are serious about their craft. And I hope that it continues to do that and so much more for the remainder of the internship.
This semester, I started my senior year of my undergraduate year. And uh…..I’m a little stuck for words. There’s not much to say. School is…school.
I can say that this semester has definitely been less stressful, which I am sooo grateful for.
But I think it’s mainly because I decided not to work for my last year of school. I found that in previous years, it was so overwhelming to be in school full-time, work part-time, meet my academic goals, and have great social life- or a social life in general. So it’s been very beneficial. I’ve had more time to actually get my assignments done and completed correctly. And its shows. My midterms were amazing, and I really think it was because I did’’t have that extra stress of work. So I’m praying that my whole senior year continues to be stress free and successful.
Life in general.
Since I’ve last posted, a very special person has come into my life. If, you recall my last December Diaries post, you’ll know that I’d gone through a breakup. After going through that, I still wanted some sort of companionship, I wanted to love someone and be loved. So….
I got a puppy!
In February I got a cockapoo puppy that I named Denim and she’s been so much fun!
Not only is she adorable, but she’s helped me become more active and more productive throughout the day. I was already a pet owner before I got her but because cats are so independent and don’t require consistent care, I was finding that I was sleeping throughout the day, and becoming a professional homebody. So because she’s a baby, training her has actually helped me to train myself. (plus, she always brings a smile to my face.)
As far as my love life goes, I don’t want to speak on it too much but it’s going good. lol
My internship has definitely helped me become more social and taught me how to network. I’ve actually get out of the house and attend events, even by myself just to get out of the house. I’m proud of myself for being more productive, social, and getting to know myself.
I’m enjoying my growth. Soon, I’ll be doing a 2018 overview so stay tuned.
